There is something in the New York air that makes sleep useless.

The light never stop. The relentless beam of light from above you subdues you to the rhythm of the street. The workday turns to the play day as the sun sets and the moon rises without a New Yorker batting an eye lid. The light never stops.

New York is a city for everyone, built by everyone. If you don't find yourself in NYC, keep looking: you will.

"For me, New York is comfortable, not strange." Karl Lagerfeld.

The sun sets and the city wakes up.

There was something oddly familiar about the places I'd never been. Brooklyn Bridge, Liberty Island and Times Square. These places were new to me but also warmly comfortable. At home in the centre of the world. A tiny seemingly insignificant speck in the madness of the jungle above and around, but also part of it. I felt as much a part of it the second I arrived as the second I was leaving. Part of the city not at all but all at once, forever joined.

"I love Central Park. I feel like I am somewhere else." Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

New York City is wildly extravagant, utterly disgusting and yet crazy beautiful at the same time, while still expressing the outlandish hopefulness that helped build this city: that anything is possible.
